Abruzzo: 3 beaches in the Punta Aderci nature reserve

Pláž Libertini - Punta Aderci
The Costa dei Trabocchi stretches from Ortona to Vasto on the southern coast of the Abruzzo region. It alternates between wide sandy and pebbly beaches, high cliffs and hidden coves. If you decide to go on holiday to Abruzzo, you must not miss this spectacle.

Trabocchi are typical fishing machines built on stilts, whose invention and construction is often attributed to the Phoenicians, but in fact their true origin has never been fully confirmed. Trabocchi cross the entire stretch of coastline. Many of them have been reconstructed and are used as restaurants or just as a place to watch the sunrise and sunset.

Trabucco
The Punta Aderci Nature Reserve is part of the Costa dei Trabocchi cycle path, which serves both pedestrians, cyclists and e-bikes. It leads right over the promontory from which you can admire the most famous coastline at Vasto.

3 beaches in the Punta Aderci nature reserve, where you can cool off in the crystal clear water:

Punta Penna: a wide sandy beach with shallow and clear water. It is reached by steps and is particularly suitable for families with children. It is not equipped, but there are lifeguards, canoe rental and a small snack corner. If you head towards the southern part of the beach, you will see the monumental Punta Penna lighthouse.

Punta Aderci: a pebble beach with crystal clear water, but less maintained than Punta Penna. It is not very suitable for children because the depth is just after a few metres. There are no facilities here, so it's a good idea to bring food, water and an umbrella. You can swim to Trabocco, where there are snorkelling spots between the rocks.

Mottagrossa: is a continuation of Punta Aderci beach. It can be reached on foot from Punta Aderci or by a dirt road leading from a small parking lot overlooking the sea. The beach has no facilities.
