Italian fashion and interesting facts about it

Italian fashio
When we say Italian fashion, brands like Versace, Dolce Gabbana, Gucci or Prada come to mind. The most luxurious and also the most expensive brands that have made Italian fashion reach the very Olympus. But it wasn't always like this. Previously, the only city known for its fashion art was Paris, which had no rival. But the tables were about to turn. It all began in 1951, when the Italian Marquis Giovanni Battista Giorgini held a fashion show at his Florentine mansion. Ten different fashion designers presented their original designs to the world. The event was a huge success and was hailed as a bombshell that rocked the Italian salons. From that moment on, Italy began to play a very important role in the fashion industry and its influence slowly but surely grew.

The main centre of Italian fashion is Milan, a city that abounds in elegance and style. But how did the city earn this title? First and foremost, there is the city's Quadrilatero della moda, or Fashion Quadrilateral, a world-famous place in Milan.bounded by Via Monte Napoleone, Via Sant'Andrea, Via Della Spiga and Via Alessandro Manzoni, with a unique showcase of Italian and international fashion boutiques. The main street in this district is Via Monte Napoleone, the most expensive street in all of Europe and the second most expensive in the world, after Fifth Avenue in New York. So if you're planning to go shopping here, it's advisable to prepare financially in advance.students who want to make it in the fashion world come to Milan to study, where there are many prestigious fashion universities (l'Istituto Marangoni, la NABA, lo IED,la Domus Academy, POLI.design), which are the second highest ranked universities after those in England. Last but not least, Milan Fashion Week, the biggest fashion show ever, is held here every year from 19 - 25 February. Similar events are also held in Paris, New York and London, during which prestigious brands present their new collections and a great opportunity for emerging designers to showcase their new art to the world.

Another Italian city where you can catch a glimpse of the magic of Italian fashion is Rome. Twice a year, usually in January and July, the streets of Rome are transformed into catwalks. The event lasts for three whole days. It starts on June 8, with an exclusive show that includes catwalks down the staircase of the Trinità dei Monti in Piazza Espagnole and also in Piazza Mignanelli. It is an incredible spectacle for all fashion lovers.

Let's go back to Florence, where the aforementioned Marquis once staged a show so famous that it launched a very promising career for Italian fashion. From the 9th to the 12th of January, the fashion show "Pitti immagine" will take place in the city of the Renaissance. During this event, international fashion shows, openings and various parties are held. The fashion events take place at various locations in Florence, such as Piazza Santa Croce, Palazzo Pitti and the Ponte Vecchio.

However, there is also a lot of curiosity and mystery surrounding the big Italian brands, for example in the cases of Gucci and Versace. Both brands have even been mentioned frequently in crime news. Maurizio Gucci, the last rightful heir to the brand, was shot dead in the street in Milan by a hitman hired by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. She was subsequently sentenced to 29 years in prison. When she had served half of her sentence, the court offered her a conditional release if she started working. Her answer was: "I have never worked in my life, and I am not going to start ! ". This story even inspired the film House of Gucci, in which the famous Lady Gaga plays the ex-wife of the famous Maurizio Gucci. Another tragic death has also befallen the Versace family. Gianni Versace, the famous Italian designer who gave birth to the brand, was murdered by a 23-year-old young man, Andrewen Cunanan, as he was returning to his villa in Milan in 1997. His sister, Donatella Versace, took over the family scepter after her brother's death. The reason for Gianni's murder has never been fully explained. Inspired by this tragedy, the American Crime Story, a series of America's most famous cases, explores the question of why Gianni was murdered.

Italian fashion is an endless story of elegance and creativity. Let yourself be drawn into a world where every piece of clothing tells its own story.
