Cascate del Mulino

Natural. Free. In the open air. This is a free spa in Tuscany, an open-air spa that is ideal for relaxing for two, with friends or with children. Located between the provinces of Siena and Grosseto, they rightly belong on the list of things to do during a trip, a weekend or just a trip out of town in Tuscany.

 

Le Cascate del Mulino
The free thermal baths of Saturnia, better known asbetter known as Cascate del Mulino, is one of the most famous natural thermal springs in Italy. Located in the province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, it is easily accessible to those coming from Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. To give you an idea, they are 160 km from Rome, 180 km from Florence, 150 km from Perugia and 80 km from Orvieto.

The spa is located along the SP 10 road and is a little oasis of paradise, where sulphurous water at 37.5 °C emerges from the ground. They are limestone pools carved into the travertine rock, arranged in steps, easily accessible to thewith many healing properties, named after an old stone mill.

 

Bagni San Filippo

The Bagni San Filippo hot springs, located in the village of the same name in Castiglione d'Orcia at the foot of Monte Amiata in the Val d'Orcia, are reached by a path from the road through the forest. You can leave your car in the free car parks along the SP 61 road. The spa is completely immersed in greenery and is a natural gem where you will feel like you are in a fairy tale.

Bagni San Filippo

After a short walk of about ten minutes, you will be greeted by lakes, waterfalls and steam pools, where the water maintains a temperature of between 30 and 40 °C. There are stunning white limestone formations, the most impressive of which is the White Whale, a large block shaped like a whale's mouth.

 

Bagni di Petriolo

The thermal baths of Petriolo or Bagni di Petriolo are located in the Ombrone Valley in the municipality of Monticiano, between the provinces of Siena (33 km) and Grosseto (about 45 km) and have been known since the time of the Etruscan civilisation and the ancient Romans.

The special feature of the free thermal baths of Petriolo is the possibility to switch in a flash from the hot water that to cold water, thanks to the proximity of the Farma river, a popular tourist destination.
